Character development, then plot!
I see several drafts a week. And in almost every case, I can tell that the plot was developed before the main character.
What’s wrong with that, you ask? Story is about people.
By far the most overlooked aspect of crafting a novel is character development and how the character’s arc of change is the real story. So often it’s an after thought following plot creation. But I believe it’s where the plot begins. And I’m not alone in that assessment.
In this course I will use examples from a popular novel to show how the main character’s backstory and motivation is the story, and the plot, what happens in the story, serves the character’s arc…not the other way around.

Author branding and ideal readers!
“Marketing is the worst.” I hear that a lot from authors.
Let’s change that to marketing is simple. To create a successful marketing strategy, begin with two essential building blocks. Creating your author brand and finding your ideal reader. That’s it!
Your author brand plays a significant role in shaping how readers perceive you and engage with your book, making it an essential component of your writing career.
And when you know your ideal reader, it totally affects everything in your writing, from the tone and style to the twists in your plot. I’ll show you how to find and connect with your ideal reader.
Plus, it makes your marketing easier. Who knew?
